What they say
“Meditation practice is working for me. It helps me to be calm, relaxed and not get angry and irritated.”
A prisoner, HMP Wymott
“We now have a regular yoga class every Monday. This is paying huge dividends and is contributing to an overall reduction in levels of violence at Glen Parva. Some very challenging young men have been able to use techniques learnt in yoga to control some aspects of their impulsive and violent behaviour.”
Simon Cass, HMYOI/RC Glen Parva
Brixton Yoga-thon
On Sunday, February 26 join our sponsored yoga challenge to raise money for the Prison Phoenix Trust, supporting yoga and meditation in prisons.
Would you like your yoga to have a real impact – on others as well as yourself? If so, sign up to the Brixton Yoga-thon on February 26: raising money for the Prison Phoenix Trust.
The challenge is to perform 108 sun salutations – and to raise at least £108 in sponsorship.
We will provide everything you need: a training programme to help you build up your practice during January and February, sponsor forms, and on the day different teachers leading rounds of 12 sun salutations at a time.
You will helping to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support for prisoners and young offenders trying to turn their lives around. The Prison Phoenix Trust provides prisoners with specially devised yoga books and DVDs, and training and support for meditation and yoga teachers working in prisons.
